Victoria Spartz Refuses to Debate in Front of Constituents
Carmel, IN - After challenging J.D. Ford to a debate, Congresswoman Victoria Spartz now refuses to engage in a public debate. According to her Washington D.C. based consultant, residents of the 5th District should not be allowed to attend the debate. J.D. remains ready and willing to debate, but he won’t let Spartz hide from the voters she represents. Voters deserve to be there and to share in this act of civic participation.
“It’s time Victoria Spartz answers for her record. She voted to cut health care for 650,000 Hoosiers. She voted at least 13 times against bills that address FEMA, disaster relief, or mitigation, and now, after the flood, it’s only fair that Hoosiers receive the aid that their tax dollars paid for. And she’s benefited from roughly $5.9 million in stock trades while serving in Congress. Voters deserve to hear from Spartz, in person,” said Ford.

About J.D.: J.D. Ford is running for Congress in Indiana's 5th Congressional District. He grew up in a working-class family as the son of a union truck driver and an assisted living administrator, with grandparents who served as local officials. J.D. learned early that public service is about people, not power. He served two terms in the Indiana State Senate, where he fought to lower the cost of lifesaving medication, strengthen public education, and ensure every Hoosier gets a fair shot. He's running to bring a working-class perspective to Washington and make life more affordable for every Hoosier.
