Carmel, IN – Nonpartisan political analysts at The Cook Political Report moved Indiana’s 5th Congressional District toward J.D. Ford, its second ratings change in this race this month.

This shift comes at the heels of a recent independent poll showing this race as virtually tied. Together they confirm that Victoria Spartz is unpopular and the voters in the 5th District are ready for new representation.

“For months, I’ve heard from our friends and neighbors in the 5th district who are struggling with the high cost of living, and they’re not better off than they were six years ago,” said Ford. “Hoosiers know that Victoria Spartz hasn’t shown up for them. She spent her time in Congress enriching herself and protecting her donors’ bottom line. I’ve been traveling all over the district listening to voters, and I’m ready to go to Washington to put Hoosiers first.”

About J.D.: J.D. Ford is running for Congress in Indiana's 5th Congressional District. He grew up in a working-class family as the son of a union truck driver and an assisted living administrator, with grandparents who served as local officials. J.D. learned early that public service is about people, not power. He served two terms in the Indiana State Senate, where he fought to lower the cost of lifesaving medication, strengthen public education, and ensure every Hoosier gets a fair shot. He's running to bring a working-class perspective to Washington and make life more affordable for every Hoosier.
